Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s is an American quartet gospel group originating from Tupelo, Mississippi which has been in existence since 1968, but did not start recording until the 1990s. The gospel quartet recognize themselves as the number 1 gospel group in the nation, and includes Lee Williams as lead singer, Al Hollis as guitarist and background vocal, Patrick Hollis as background singer, Leonard Shumpert as second lead vocalist, and new full-time bassist Tommie Harris. Lee Williams was not known as the lead singer of the Spiritual QC’s until 1998.
Lee William and the Spiritual QC’s went from being a part-time gospel group to recording artists who travel 50 weekends out of the year.[1] Their first recording was in 1996 at the Georgia-based gospel label MCG Records[2] . Jesus Is Alive And Well was their first album which included the breakout hit record “I’ve Learned to Lean.” Their second album, Love Will Go All the Way, was released in 1998 and set the stage for their third album released in 2000 named “Good Time,” which crashed into the Top Ten of Billboard’s gospel albums in November[3] . During that following year the group won Traditional Quartet of the Year at the Gospel Music Excellence Awards, and was nominated for the Best Gospel Album at the Soul Train Music Awards[4] . Afterwards in 2002 the group recorded their third album titled "Right On Time" at The Temple Of Deliverance Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Lee Williams wrote all of the songs for this album[5] . When recording finished, the album was released to the public in the spring of 2003[6] . Since then Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC’s have made nine albums since their first album released in 1996[7] .
